Concessional fares of 50 per cent off for eligible pensioners, veterans, seniors, people with a disability, children and students to help make public transport more affordable.

Providing a 50 per cent concession fare up to a maximum subsidy of $25 per trip for eligible Queenslanders with severe disabilities. Holders of a Queensland Seniors Card must meet one of the 6 disability criteria. The Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) provides financial assistance to patients who need to access specialist medical services which are not available within their local area. The PTSS provides a subsidy towards the cost of travel and accommodation for patients and, in some cases, an approved escort. Patients will receive fully subsidised commercial transport if arranged by Queensland Health, or will be subsidised at the economy/government discount rate (less GST). Alternatively, a subsidy of 30 cents per kilometre is paid where a private vehicle is used. The accommodation subsidy is $60 per person per night for the period the patient is required to be away from home for medical reasons and when they are not in hospital, and for their escort, if approved. Eligible Queenslanders can receive a rebate of up to $341 per year for electricity and up to $71 per year towards the supply of reticulated natural gas. Contact your electricity or gas retailer.


Helping seriously ill people who use home-based life support systems by providing a rebate of up to $694 per annum for users of oxygen concentrators and a rebate of up to $465 per annum for users of kidney dialysis machines to meet their electricity costs.   • Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession

Helping people with a chronic medical condition aggravated by changes in temperature with a rebate of up to $341 per year. Contact the Queensland Government Contact Centre on 13 74 68.

  • Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme

Helping low-income households with a one-off emergency payment to pay electricity or reticulated natural gas bills during a short-term financial crisis. No concession card required. Contact your energy retailer.


Offering a 20 per cent subsidy, up to a maximum of $200 per year, to lessen the impact of local government rates and charges on pensioners, thereby assisting them to continue to live in their own homes. Contact your local Council to apply.


Providing a subsidy of up to $120 per year to eligible pensioner property owners in the South East Queensland Water Grid to lessen the impact of water prices. Contact your water retailer.


A discount of 20 per cent on the Emergency Management Levy is available for eligible pensioners for their principal place of residence. Contact your local Council to apply.


Helping eligible people over 60, or who have disability, with assistance to remain living in their home, either owned or rented. Free safety related information and referrals are available, and subsidised assistance to pay for critical maintenance services of up to $400 per household per year. The Oral Health Scheme provides free dental care to eligible clients and their dependents who possess a current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Queensland Seniors Card or Commonwealth Seniors Card. Eligible Queenslanders can access general dental care, treatment involving dentures and emergency dental care through the scheme. In rural and remote areas where no private dental practitioner exists, access to dental care for the general public is provided at a concessional rate, generally 15 to 20 per cent less than average private dental fees.
